Visit to Bismarck (6-13)

In June of 2013, I delivered Cook and Ama to Grandpa and Grandma's house, and then spent a couple days hanging out with them and Spencer's family before the Black Hills trip. Ama did some scooter riding, and Grandpa even let Cook ride the schooter alone in the parking lot next door! What?!

We also had a campout in the driveway and it was fun as always - Cook added his guitar playing and singing to the campfire, which Grandma loved!

Drive-In Movie (6-13)

We went to the Vali-Hi Drive-In Movie Theater in June (it was my first time ever going to a drive-in, I think, and the kids' too). We watched Despicable Me 2, and we could have stayed for 2 more movies if we had wanted to. As it was, we got back home after 11:00pm.

We brought Cook's friend Ethan along and he had a sleepover that night. We ate dinner at the concessions place at the theater (Cook & Ethan got pizza, Chris got hot dogs, and Amaranth & I got cheeseburgers - Rowan ate everything). Luckily, we got there with plenty of time to walk around and people-watch, and we played in the park under the screen.

We had so much fun at the movie that later in the summer I went solo with Cook, Ama, Christian, and Aria. We watched an Adam Sandler movie and I think everybody had a great time! Drive-in movies are kind of magical!

Lake Calhoun (6-13)

We took Chris's parents to Lake Calhoun while they were in town, and when we got there we realized that only Chris had remembered to bring a swimsuit, so he got to take Rowan in the water.

At age 1, Rowan was pretty fearless in the water, and you had to watch her every second because she would just take off walking and then fall down and go right under. Over and over. She just kept doing it, happy as a clam.

Rowan with Gma & Gpa Smith (6-13)

Grandpa and Grandma Smith came to visit in June and we took Rowan to Lake Calhoun for a swim. She is a little fishy and loves to be in the water, but she also has no fear and careens off into the deep at every opportunity. Unfortunately, nobody else was really prepared to go swimming, so she had to stay in the shallows that day.

Rowan's Bare Bottom (6-13)

Because of kind of crappy weather, we only went swimming at the Powderhorn wading pool a couple of times all summer. It was either too cold or raining so much that it barely felt like summer until about July.

Anyway, the best Rowan cuddles are the ones right when she decides she's done swimming, especially on a day that's not quite warm enough for swimming. This is the cutest picture in the universe.
