Rowan's Basket (3-12)

Here is 2-week-old baby Rowan sleeping in the moses basket that Danni gave her. She loves this basket so much, and she'll just lay in it wide awake, looking around pleasantly, for way longer than it seems like a baby should be content to lay still. It's her favorite place to be. Thanks Danni!

The Birth of Rowan Mariana (3-12)

Rowan was born on Wednesday, March 14th at 4:34 pm. We had three Trillium Midwifery midwives here, plus Chris and the kids and mom and dad, so it was a full house. Luckily, the weather was beautiful and unseasonably warm, so grandpa and grandma kept the kids busy with projects out on the porch all afternoon. They came into the living room right when Rowan was born to see our new little wet bundle!


When the baby's head came out it got stuck at the chin. The midwives got it out, and then she got stuck again at the shoulders. Afterward, the midwives said that they'd thought she was stuck under my pelvic bone, but that it turned out she was just really fat! One of the midwives reached in and twisted her and she came right out...all 8 pounds, 10 ounces of her!

Super Prego Mama (2-12)

Here we are just a week or so before Rowan was born. I had some pretty serious backaches and heartburn towards the end of my pregnancy, so it was a relief to get that little honey pie out!
