1st Day of School 2013 (8-13)

Some pretty mixed feelings on the first day of school. Cook started 7th grade and Amaranth started 2nd, both at Seward Montessori.

Gang at the Falls (8-13)

We invited the Waneks and Cook's friend Ellanor to Willow Rivers for some watery fun, and none of them had ever been there before - it was really nice to get to see everybody and get some fresh air and be spend the day with wonderful people. So many wonderful people!

 

Summertime (8-13)

The summer of 2013 was kind of cold and rainy and got a late start, but we did manage to get outside and have some fun! Ama was complaining that everybody else had really fun backyards and ours was too BORING (which was true), so we bought a turtle sandbox and this little playhouse. One wall opens up (when it was opened, Ama played "Heart Cafe" - the food was made out of sand) or could close up when Cook put the girls through zombie apocalypse training.

 

Also, we put in another 8x4 garden, doubling our total garden space. The green beans turned into a jungle, but we got lots of cucumbers, pumpkins, and other stuff! We tried growing birdhouse gourds, and Ama planted a very special cosmos flower.

 

A little inflatable pool that we bought for Rowan. She didn't really like it that much, it turned out, but it was cute!

Cook in the sun with an early harvest. The raspberries had a rough winter and didn't produce too well, but the black raspberries loved growing on their new arbor. Also we planted a blueberry and pink blueberry bush.

Just a day at the beach! I think this was at Cedar Lake.

We went on a walk the day after a terrible storm that pulled down trees and wrecked houses and cars. It also knocked out the electricity for a couple of days.
